Have you ever wondered how a caterpillar becomes a flourishing butterfly? Ilsa Gebhard will be sharing her extensive knowledge about these wonderful little creatures with her colorful photos and an informative presentation. We will learn what it takes to attract moths and butterflies to our own yard. Ilsa will be giving us a butterfly tour of the gardens after her talk, so dress (and shoe) accordingly.

How do line, form, color, and texture affect a creative landscape? Whether it be a timy garden, a pathway or a country estate, all are a blend of these components. Ellen Meyers, garden expert, from Brooklyn, Michigan will be teaching us how to put all the pieces in their proper places to create professional looking landscape design.

Join Sandie Idema and Becky Yaple in a project to prighten your window sill when the snow flies. You will leanr how to force bulbs and create a cute little cage for the flowers to peek through. This will be an easy and fun hands-on event. Bring a six-inch flower pot with a drain hole.

This presentation promises to be an afternoon of serenity and elegance as we explore this ancient art with these talented designers. You and your guest(s) are bound to enjoy the event.

Plan on a fun filled get-together with delectable food and great conversation. A season appropriate reading by a KGC member is back by poplular demand. Our president is asking members to consider making a contribution to the Hazel Wirick Fund.

 

Hazel Wirick is a Past Presedent of KGC (1941-1943) and also Kalamazoo Garden COuncil President (1949-1951). THe Wirick Award was established in 1989. It is given to two recipients studying plant related sciences at Western Michigan University. This year marks the 30th anniversary of her death.
